Hello all
I am new here, but this forum seems to be a good place to be. I am not that learned in electronics, but I enjoy building stuff[that I can afford!].
I am out to improve my turntable. I use a damped Thorens td160. I also have a vpi scout which is in current disuse.
One option is to build a turntable; the key issue is the bearing and the platter. Any one considered doing this? Teres and Scheu have bearings but to go that route is pricey.
I wonder if the td160 bearing and motor can be upgraded?-most likely not.
My scout is good to some, but I am not fond of the acryilic platter and the basic motor drive.
Is there perhaps an older table that would be a good base for an arm of your choice?
Cheers
Thor
