Hi

I'd like to ask about proper connection of clock. As we know, in almost all CDPs clock is generated by inverter logic gate. So - obviously I should remove connected quartz resonator and caps. Should I remove resistor as well ?

And now main question - where to put clock signal ? To input or to output or that gate ?

Connecting it to input - signal will have to get through this inverter. Now imagine that this is SAA7220. We don't want to pass our clock through it, right ?
Connecting to output... I'm not sure. Maybe I should leave resistor in place, and use output anyway ?

best regards

L.

If you connect to the output you will have a clash with the low output impedance of the buffer.

The resistor is a high value feedback resistor to bias the gate as a linear amplifier

So all my efforts to use good PSU, etc... at the clock output are wasted because of poor PSU of digital filter in the CDP. I know, that you can improove it, but you can't isolate all clock distributing stuff [that gate that I mentioned earlier] from the rest rubbish things of SAA7220...

So maybe it could be better to make differental output and connect it to input and output ?

Or maybe I should stop thinking that much, use "standard" way of connecting clock, put some Pat Metheny to CDP and enjoy the music ?? :D :drinkers:

best regards

L.

You are right. You don't want your clock to go through that thing. Connect a clock signal directly to every place that you need it. Use a resistor to isolate eacn connection.
