I own a a pair of Tannoy 611 Mk1 Floorstanders. Great speakers except for sibilance problems. So far I've resisted temptation to play with the crossovers but my patience is wearing thin. :axe: I've changed the mid/treble speaker wire from stranded silver plated copper to solid core copper. I have lost a significant amount of fine detail but gained some relief from the harshness.
The later Mk11 versions reputedly address this problem and sound warmer by comparison. Does anyone here own a pair of MK11's and know the crossover values??
The drivers are supposed to be different too but I slightly suspect that only the crossover is different.
Any help would be very much appreciated. I don't have a great deal of experience with crossovers. My only thought would be to add a pad resistor across the tweeter but I don't know if that would upset the overall balance.

Alternatively can anyone suggest an album without S,T, or cymbals?

They are probably crossed over at a too low frequency for those tweeters.
That excessive sibilance you hear is distortion, the tweeter can't handle such low frequencies.
They should have opted for a higher slope or crossing a little higher.
Don't worry, too many commercial speakers sound distorted in the midband, spitty. IME.
You need to know the component values on those crossovers if you want to make some change, or else forget them and make new crossovers from scratch. Probably the best option.
