I am pleasantly surprised with this software that came with my new notebook: Dolby Home Theater v4

It has what they call an intelligent equalizer: it doesn´t work with fixed curves but with a target curve for the spectrum analyser. So it readjusts the EQ constantly according to the spectrum.

The adjustment is not subtle, it seems to go crazy with some source material and you hear too much change during a song. But for youtube surfing it is great. Makes the sound consistent, which would take constant fiddling with the EQ othewise. It is kind of a radio station type of processing.

By your description, I would run from it like the plague.
Just pick some "neutral" sounding headphones to use with your laptop and you don't need any EQ.
Here's a secret: Sennheiser MX270 (with the included foams).
They cost under 15 Euros here and sound waaay better than more expensive earphones, including from Sennheiser.
And no nasty boomy bass. It sounds just right, from top to bottom.

That's great but it was recorded with a mobile phone, it doesn't sound good and never will.

It doesn´t sound like a mobile phone to me!

Anyway, I found that because I searched for Keith Carlock. What an awesome drummer. Here is another recording from the same guy, doesn´t sound bad to me.

The bass is too low in volume in this last one, or rather the guitar is in front of everything... the guy didn´t pick the right spot to sit. Still nice though.

Chris Dave is the best drummer I've seen lately.
This is sick:
