For those of you who received my recommendation for buying from Juang Siahaan from Indonesia, acting around at forums as aaf, a'af, or something like that...

He has been selling, among the other stuff, very good performing TDA1541A series. (Some samples I received were faulty though, as they had a problem to work right upon the power up, so they might be originating from some run abandoned by Philips, but putting this aside, the chips were excellent.)

It will be impossible to mail directly to all of you, or even to remember all of you that I sent my recommendation to buy from him, so I will have to withdraw it this way.

I knew that he made a huge problem over at diyA some years ago supplying fake Toshiba JFETs, but I also knew that he did the effort to correct for it, so I concluded it happened unintentionally. Also, I've been buying from him many times, successfully, so I was relatively confident that this option does works.

However, I never received my last order, which I placed and paid in August (so it is seven months now). The only answer I managed to get from him since then was the one coming supposedly from his "daughter", telling that "her father" is in hospital and he will be out and answer shortly. He however never answered anymore, not even since I mailed him several times again. On the other hand, I see him quite active at Facebook, so the bottom line is that he is in fact there, and he can but he don't want to answer.

So, that is it. I'd be probably too naive still to believe that my last order will ever arrive. But please, have this on mind, and, as far as I'm concerned, deal with him at your own risk only.

And, I will probably avoid recommending anyone "alternative" source of this kind anymore. If you can come across the obsolete parts, it is fine, but if you can not, c'est la vie, and don't ask me for advice or help of any kind in this regard, please. And especially don't expect me to sell you such parts, as you now may have some idea about their real world price. (BTW, speaking of this, once I even bought a series of totally fake TDA1541A, from reputable European vendor. None sample worked at all: unknown chip marked as TDA1541A.)

Thanks Pedja. I would have been leery of buying from him due to the Toshiba JFET deal (which I avoided), but confirmation of such is good to know.

Two points.

I see A'af hasn't posted on DIYAudio in over a year. Probably not a good sign.

And, I see there's lots of 'authentic' TDA1541's coming out of Asia. Once again, probably not a good sign.

Regards,
Dan :)
